Aquire Services recognizes needs in our community and we are committed to make a difference!
We presently focus on a specific area in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, India. This region has faced constant natural calamities and requires desperate help. We provide educational sponsorship for underprivileged children and some help to the widows in the community.
We believe education is a great tool to bring a change in our broken society- overcome the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, gender discrimination. Spread awareness that brings hope and peace to our society.
We are convinced that we should extend our helping hands to these people and give them necessary help that is possible.
Together we can make a difference!
Being a girl in the town of Bhatwari, Uttarkashi, sets small Khushboo up for hardship from the beginning. It is a terrible tradition that girls are typically valued less than boys in most Himalayan village families, a value system reaching back hundreds of years and deeply ingrained in the culture. In an effort to help change this, Aquire Services has sought out four year old Khushboo to begin helping with her school fees at an early age. Khushboo has two older brothers who also attend the same school, but as their father has only odd jobs around town, he has been unable to pay all their fees. Khushboo was in danger of being left behind, but can now continue making the ten minute walk to school every morning with her brothers. A quiet and content child, Khushboo is very excited to get to attend school and is always on time, with her completed school assignments in hand. Aquire Services is pleased to contribute to the changes being made for girls in Uttarkashi in this small way and hopes to continue helping many others like Khushboo in the future.
High up in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountain range stands a small house in a tiny village called Pala. Twelve year old Harish lives in this house with his grandmother, father, mother, and younger sister. Every morning, Harish's father drops the two children off at school 5 kms away and then starts his day as a taxi driver for the local town of Bhatwari, Uttarkashi. In the afternoon, the children walk home on their own. This can be very dangerous due to wild animals in the neighborhood. A boy very near Harish's house was recently attacked by a bear. The family wishes their children to continue attending school, but are concerned for their safety. Not only this, but due to frequent earthquakes and landslides, the mountains of the Himalayas are often a dangerous place to live. Several months out of the year, Harish's small village is cut off from the rest of civilization when roads are blocked or completely crushed under the weight of falling rocks and mud. Driving a taxi in the mountains is not always lucrative enough to support a family and for some time, the family has been struggling to pay school fees and take care of daily needs. The school has permitted the children to continue attending despite this, but the family feels the shame of not being able to pay their debts. Hearing this, Aquire Services was happy to step in and cover the fees for the school year of 2013-2014 and desires to continue supporting Harish's schooling for as long as they are able and the family is in need. Please keep Harish and his sister in your thoughts and prayers as they struggle to gain an education against so many harsh realities and dangers of living in the mountains.
